FMF Fatty on H model
I have a 1995 KDX200 with an FMF Fatty and a Powercore 2. As far as I can tell, they never made an FMF fatty for the H model KDXs. Is this pipe for a different bike or am I just wrong?

Re: FMF Fatty on H model
Welcome to the forums.
Fatty, Burly, etc. are older models that they offered. In the last ten years or so, they only sold the Gnarly in Woods or Desert versions. Look around, and you can see pictures of KDX's with the older versions of the pipes. You may want to look in some mid to late 90's Dirt Bike or Dirt Rider to see how FMF advertised the differences.
Again, welcome to the forums. We have an introduction section, if you would like.

Here's a picture of the whole bike. You can see the exhaust springs on the footpeg. It had four springs on it when I got it, isn't it only supposed to have two?

It usually has two. You are missing an exhaust mount and nut. Maybe the previous owner did it to compensate. I would check to make sure it has a copper crush washer inside the pipe to cylinder junction.

Early fmf pipes were all fattys. They were sold as fatty rev or fatty torque. Later name changed to gnarly woods (torque) and desert (rev). Yours looks like the torque pipe. Torque pipe is fatter then the rev.

Re: FMF Fatty on H model
It had a massive exhaust leak, so I ordered a new copper washer and o rings. I know I'm missing an exhaust mount, but do you think it would still be okay to only use two springs, or should I just put all four back on?Jason wrote:It usually has two. I had an FMF "Fat Boy" on my 95 KDX in 96 I think. No BS.
Harley made then stop using the name.
Anyone else remember ?

Just use two springs, but buy the mount.
I read somewhere someone else saying HD made them stop. or asked, or something

What are the 2 o rings listed as 670E3039 in the parts fiche for? They are shown as going between the copper washer and the exhaust chamber.

3 mm thick, 39 mm OD, I think. They are the two o-rings that mount on the pipe end.

They help seal the spooge and act as vibration dampers.

Anyway to tell the difference except for visual? I have a Fatty on my 97 and want a Gnarly woods, but realistically I may have an earlier version of one, which would be great.

Re: FMF Fatty on H model
Of late, Fatty is one gauge less thick than Gnarly. Look on FMF for KX250 to see differences.

Since the main question in this thread has been solved, I guess I can go off topic now lol
I like the water pump guard shown in the first pic! Do you have any other photo's of it? I would like to see how it attaches to the bike. I kind of want to make one... lol

Sorry for taking a month to reply lol. It's a Devol Racing water pump guard. Here's a pic of how it's mounted. It just uses spacers to space the guard off the water pump.Tyl3r wrote:Since the main question in this thread has been solved, I guess I can go off topic now lol

The guard came with the bike and I can't find it for sale by itself anywhere. I did find it for sale with a skid plate though. https://www.ebay.com/i/331032522511?chn ... 9506712750
