Change in Silencer I.D.

Post by KDXPhil »

A month or so ago, I put a new FMF TurbineCore 2 silencer with spark arrestor on my 05 KDX220r, keep the same chamber. Last night I noticed that in the process, I had gone from a 1" diameter at the outlet, to a 1 1/8" diameter. Now I'm wondering if the mixture would be changed significantly and if I need to make any change to the jetting? Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Phil

The rule of thumb is any change to the intake/exhaust requires a jetting change. In actuality, if you kept the same pipe and just changed silencers you likely don't need to do anything. That said, it never hurts to go thru the jetting process (it's relatively easy) if you've never done it.
