2002 KDX200 - Q Stealth?

Post by TeamDoty »

Hey everyone,

I'd like to install an FMF Q Stealth onto my 2002 KDX200 (h8?). Problem is, FMF doesn't list a model specific to my applications. I've emailed their customer service requesting a suggested model that might be modified to fit but haven't heard anything back (2-weeks now).

I did a search here and found a rider of a 2001 model that stated he had a Q Stealth on his bike so that should work for mine, I just don't know what model to order:

http://www.kdxrider.net/forums/viewtopi ... th#p127091

Can anyone help me identify the model I should be looking for? I'm going to message that member and see if they can find a model number on their pipe (if they still have it... it's been a couple years since that post).

Thanks for any help!

Heath

There is no Q Stealth for a KDX. The one in the other thread is a normal Q. Perhaps the poster used the wrong name.

2002 KDX200 - Q Stealth?

Appreciate it!

Yeah, I'm thinking I might have to try to see one on a bike and try and figure out if there's a model that could be modified to fit.

Anything can be modded to work, just depends on how far you want to go. You could probably take any Q Stealth silencer and cut the mounts and pipe off. Then you would need to weld on KDX mounts and a KDX pipe. Unless you've got some welding skills and extra parts laying around, you're going to spend more than you would like.

Keep in mind the diameter of the cannister and such. They are really big.

Do you really need a Q Stealth? I run a Turbinecore 2 and it is not much louder than my buddies KTM with a stealth, and it has passed every Forest Service sound check with no issues.

Thank you... not sure if I "need" a Q Stealth - so very good point... and I really should have been more clear. I'm really just trying to get this machine as quiet as possible.

My buddy is a semi-pro mx'er... and he has his own practice track. Problem is, there's some homes nearby and we do everything we can to keep the noise and the dust to a minimum to avoid becoming bad neighbors.

So my real goal is to quiet the bike down as much as possible - I'm not too worried about losing some performance, this thing has way more performance than I'll ever be able to handle!

Thanks for the advice on the Turbinecore 2... I may look into that or look at possibly going back to stock.

THANKS!!!!

No worries, if your buddy runs a 4T at his track no one will even know you're there lol

Research your options. The Q may be quiet than the standard Turbine Core 2.

DB Snorkel still around?

Exhaust pipe wrap?

Lid on airbox?

Thanks everyone! Those are all good ideas to look further into - I really appreciate it! I've even been hunting down stock pipes and silencers on fleabay. I was looking at the Q Stealth for the KX250 (the 2-stroke model) and visually... visually... they look very similar in geometry to the powercore 2 I have. My guess is that these are very similar in shape/proportion/dimension - might be worth a shot because it's crazy how much peeps want for their old oem stuff on fleabay :)

You have to move the mounts to use the kx250 and make a bushing for tge bell end to make everything right it's about a 1/16" to big. I tried a Kx 250 tc2 on hybrid but went with the moded kdx and sold the Kx tc2
