KDX speedometer

Post by javjacob »

My 2001 KDX220R is missing the speedometer but still has the cable which is just tied up. I looked up the speedometer and it costs $100. Not sure if its even worth replacing it. I am actually kind of shocked they even came with a speedometer from the factory since its an off road bike. I am just curious on everyones thoughts on the speedometer. Is the speedometer a part that breaks easily? If I don't replace it is there a way I can delete the cable and everything?

My 200 was the same. I removed the cable and siliconed a rubber plug in the threaded hole. I thought that it was an odometer though.

its not even a speedometer
its a trip meter
it would tell you how far you have driven, but not how fast you are going

if it were mine, I would look up a universal one (they can usualy be had for 20-30 bucks of ebay) and hope the cable matches up

Didn't know it was just a trip meter. Mine is missing so I made the wrong assumption of what it was. I think I will just delete it and save the money for other mods/parts.
