My new 06 KDX200

Post by KDXMainer »

I just picked up a 2006 KDX200. I have done a lot of reading and plan on doing all the mods. Ills skip all the usual questions for now. What I would like to know is what would be the best parts bike to look for. I want to do the inverted fork swap so I am looked at used KX bikes with blowen motors. I have found a 2002 KX125 for 500 bucks that looks like new. What else for parts could I use from this bike to make my KDX look better? Would the plastics bolt on? Seat? Gas tank? Is there a better year or model bike I should be looking for? Of course right after I bought this bike for $1800 then spent another 250 for a new air filter and knarly woods header I found an 01 KDX that had been completely redone with all the mods I'm about to do for$1700 bucks. I wanted to hang myself. While I hesitated for a day on just buying this other bike someone else got down there and snatched the bike before I could get there. So I'm back to rebuilding this one. Any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks

If you are handy, maybe just put the KDX engine in the KX125.

The 125 forks may not be the right buy depending on your size - springs may be too light. They are for sure too light in the stock KDX! If you are just going for looks then swap away, but get the right springs and you'll be surprised at how much it improves things.

May just search eBay and buy just what you need versus looking for a clapped out roller.
