99 KDX 200 Fuel Issue
I have recently put a new bottom and top end on my 99 kdx. I have put everything back together and started the bike. Idles great has a lot of bottom end but the top end only revs out once then goes to spitting and popping resulting in no top end. When revving in neutral the bike revs out once just like a 2 stroke should but if you keep revving its almost like the carb isn't getting enough fuel and it wont rev back up. I Let the bike idle for a second or 2 then crack the throttle again and it revs great but it don't do it 2 times in a row. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Do you have an inline fuel filter? Did you try and flip to reserve?

If you haven't already, take the carb off, clean out all the orifices and jets very well, set your float height and try again. Just takes a tiny spec of dirt to plug a hole.

Re: 99 KDX 200 Fuel Issue
When I first got the bike I only rode it for about a hour before the top end power went out. That's when I found the broken kips parts and the busted lower end seals. Now everything is new. I have taken the carb out 3 times cleaning it every time. Could the kips be out of time?

Oh and I for got to mention that I put new aftermarket boysen carbon reeds in it. The jets in it are 160 and a 48. Do I need to go down to the 155 then try it again.

Re: 99 KDX 200 Fuel Issue
Even if you are at sea level, the 48 pilot is likely too rich. Follow the jetting guide to do it right.
