Should I replate?

Post by BoHeck »

Hey Guys, I just picked up a 99 KDX200 and began the process of refurbishment. This bike looks to be possibly abused by the previous owners, but certainly it was neglected as it had the original piston still in it. I need the pros opinion on whether or not to replate this. The only real concern I have is the ring marks near the top of the cylinder. After some scotchbrite, I can't feel them with my fingernail but still not sure about it. The plating around the ports all looks good, in the pictures there's some paper towel fuzz left over on some of the edges of the ports but that's all it is, no missing plating.

Looks pretty good. I'd run that cylinder without a second thought.

Agree. I think you will be fine. In 40-50hrs check it again when you are back in doing a new top end.
