AmsOil Ratio
I just bought a 99 kdx 200. I bought AMSOIL. The bottle says mix 50:1. The manual says 32:1 i belive. Since im using high quality oil would it be ok to run 50:1 through it? They guy I bought it from ran 50:1. I have brand new top end as of yesterday and I havent even did the warm up process yet.

Re: AmsOil Ratio
I use 40:1 with Amsoil Interceptor with good results. I doubt that they'd advise 50:1 if it was a bad idea, though.

the bottle can say 100:1 or 10000:1, but that doesn't mean it's enough for your old dirt bike.

Re: AmsOil Ratio
You can run it up to 100:1.
I've ran it in several high winding bikes back in the '80's, no issues.
50:1 is being safe.
You're not alone, I was skeptical too...

the more oil, the better the protection against parts wearing down

Re: AmsOil Ratio
I like a little more oil too. Most important thing is to decide what ratio you want to run and jet accordingly. I personally like 40:1 since I mix 5 gallons at time.

Re: AmsOil Ratio
My little brother and I run 50:1 Amsoil Dominator with no issues. Some of our buddies run 100:1 with the Amsoil Interceptor and never had an issue either. Even though Amsoil is a little on the expensive side, it is good stuff.

Re: AmsOil Ratio
I was running Saber (100:1) in my 97 and it ran awesome. Running the DOMINATOR (32:1) and love it.

Re: AmsOil Ratio
Because of the way that a two stroke is designed and the way that ring seal is achieved, assuming that the jetting is correct for the mix, more oil results in more power. There is, of course, a point of diminishing returns. There is also personal preference. There are plenty of articles on the subject if you care to do some research. You will find plenty of conflicting opinions on this forum or any other.
