it says remove the air box snorkel !why? and is it necessary???

It helps with airflow. There are several threads about removing the airbox snorkel / lid and varying opinions on whether or not this is beneficial. If you do a little searching on airbox here I'm sure you'll find plenty of info. I think it makes a better frisbee than anything else, and ditched it straight away.

I'm at low elevation, typically 1000' but occasionally up to 3000'. I jetted my bikes with the lids and snorkels in place, because I have enough power for the tight stuff around here (and the filter stays cleaner + less noise). Stock gearing the front wheel comes up in 3rd, and occasionally 4'th, just rolling on the throttle, and runs clean and responsive. Good enough for me (I keep on top of my jetting with changes in temps - that brings the biggest gain imo).
If you ride faster conditions, or have power loss from altitude, then by all means consider extra steps to get more out of your engine.
You'll want to squeeze out your filter well though if you keep them on.
