Re: wheel removal
Are you asking about removing the wheel or changing the tire? If you are unsure how to remove a wheel, then I'm not sure you want to tackle a tire change!

Check your wheel bearings for play before you remove the wheel. It's a good time to change them if you're going to have the wheel out anyway.

I'll second and third that. Changing a tire can be a real beeeotch for anyone that knows how to do it. It is truly one of the mundane jobs I despise. I can honestly say I said a few choice words I shouldn't have and drank a few too many adult beverages changing the little 12" tires on my boys race bike a few months back. It's one of the jobs it's almost worth paying someone to do.
If you decide to tackle it, make sure you lay the tires out in the sun and try to warm them if possible. It can make a real difference. Good luck.

wheel removal
If you think a KDX tire is tough, try a tubeless trials rear tire.
