Clutch shaft bearing replacement

Post by KB450 »

Hi there. Only new to this site and a fantastic resource to have available for the average punter.
I was in the process of replacing the shift shaft mechanism on an old 2000 kdx recently purchased and found loads of chewed up metal in the bottom of the crankcase. After removing the clutch i could see the clutch shaft bearing housing had broken apart. My question is do i have to split the motor to get the bearing out or is there some way to pull it out without splitting the motor? Thanks in advance for your help. Cheers.

That bearing is accessed from the RH side, behind the clutch. You may need to work up some sort of puller to get it out, but the cases don't need to be split.

You are talking about the bearing in the center of this picture - held in place by the two bolts & washers?

Do you have a picture of what has broken? That is a pretty substantial bearing.
