What forks are these

Post by actmobmar »

Did a bunch of reading last nite, and realized these forks are not factory for this bike(01 kdx200 ), as they are upside down. Any ideas?

1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 or 2003 KX125 or KX250.

Measure the fork diameter or post the rim codes if you have a KX wheel.

They are not 1999 - 2001 KX125 clamps due to the handlebar mounts.

That rules out 2002 and newer, so 1999, 2000 or 2001. What size are the clamp bolt heads? They changed to 10 mm in 2000 or 2001. Is the steering stem tapered?

Clamp bolts for the front axle are 12 mm heads. Are these forks an improvement over the original forks for trail riding and maybe hare scrambles

I haven't removed the forks from the bike so don't know if it's tapered

Any idea what these are off of for sure? Just concerned that I get correct wheel bearing, etc when parts are required

Brake pads are the same as well. Also, same brakes as the KDX came with. Take the bearings out, go to a local bearing supplier and get bearings from them. The only thing that you really need to worry about is the parts that actually go in/on the forks.

99-01 KX250 is most likely given the top triple. Internally the same as the 125 other than spring weights and damping. The 125/250 for those years use the same seals and guides. They are an improvement over the stock forks but still need to be sprung for your riding weight.
