In my mission to restore my new to me 1996 KDX200 I have dismantled it down to where I am ready to tear into the top end.
I took the carb off, disassembled, cleaned, and reassembled it. I then moved to the cylinder head and removed the reed cage. I am not sure if this is some kind of new design or if the previous owner was experimenting but this is what I pulled out.
Does this look right to you?

Re: Reed Valve missing parts?
That appears to be a boyesen rad valve.

Re: Reed Valve missing parts?
That would be cool. I didn't see any labeling on it besides the 14XA. How can I find out?
Should it have fingers on the outside to keep the reeds from extending too far out?

Re: Reed Valve missing parts?
The 14XA is a rad valve, and it doesn't have any fingers to hold the reeds from opening too far.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction Julien!

Absolutely. That's a nice score for that to already be installed for ya!
