KIPS tension ball and spring

Post by C George »

Whats the thoughts on the tension ball and spring set up.
I read if you took a shim washer out it slowed down the action.
Do you really think that small amount would do anything ?
It seems like the actuator has a fairly strong spring action itself.

The owners manual says if you increase the spring pressure " by taking shims out " that you'll get more low end power.

The theory there is the exhaust port stays lower longer.

But ,,,,, what many of us have found from riding is the power comes in at a lower rpm and is much , much smoother
when there's zero spring pressure on the kips shaft.
With the stock set up , it's like the kips valves snap open , not so with no spring.
