OEM Piston rings

Post by sodamninsane »

Doing a top end rebuild... Are the top and bottom rings identical for the H-series motors? I ordered the OEM piston / ring kit but one ring looks like it is slightly anodized vs. the other one?

Anyone know for sure? Service manual doesn't make any reference to it... to me, I would put the coarser looking on one top since it seems like it will bed in better... Let me know what you guys think.

Yeah so same part # for 2 rings... wasn't clear if that was one part # for both rings, or each ring had the same part #... anyway, I'll throw it together... whats the worst that can happen :-)

OEM Piston rings

Looks like they seat at 7 and 5 o'clock. Make sure to find the notches in the ring seats on the piston where the two ends of the ring join. Took me an hour to figure out why my cylinder wouldn't fit back over the piston
