New bike, having ish

Post by ChrisZx7 »

Quick rundown on bike

99 KDX200

Ran awesome when guy brought it over, traded my blaster for it. Orderd a new filter, and changed fluids. After all this, bike ran like crap at WOT. All bike has is a Pro circuit bike and stock silencer.

Jets that were in bike were 45/168. Did some research and found stock is 45/155. DId not work with 168, started at 155 and went up, no good.

I noticed a ticking noise at idle stator side, goes away when engine revs are raised. Took flywheel off, cleaned some surface rust, looked at stator. Im guessing its crank bearing?

Sprayed some carb cleaner around mating surfaces to maybe find an airleak. When i hit back of jug under reed it died. Guessing got a leak huh? Could this be reason for no WOT?

Forgot to mention i cleaned carb 2x throughouly.

best way to be sure that is what you are hearing is to shift the bike in neutral and engage and disengage the clutch
it should make a slight change in the noise it makes

not sure why it does it, probably to let others know not to mess with you, like the brightly coloured poisenous critters :boogie:

I would address the possible air leak before you go too far. That may be why the main was so big.

Yes. Change the reed cage gasket. No engines like an air leak, but especially true of 2-cycles.
