If you ever need one of those studs, the Kawasaki part # is 172G0622

WOW! How did you find that out? I remember reading somewhere that it was only available as part of the whole fork leg. ...OK, I just looked on the buykawasaki site and it didn't show it. Is it basically a 6 x 22 stud? How is it held in, etc.? I am enough of a nerd to be interested even though I don't even have an H model. :-)

I don't know what the size of the thing is. I know they can be had at one-each hardware stores that carry metric stuff....NAPA, too as I recall.

I've never needed one 'cuz I know what 'torque' means.

...and I know what 'ham-fisted' means, too!

Oh...and I have a torque wrench, have a MANUAL...and use 'em both!

Would YOU use a NAPA or one-each Pik-a-Nut piece to hold on YOUR axle? :-)

I used to have some 1991 KX125 forks and they had the axle cap arrangement on each side. Someone was nice enough to have pre-removed 2 of them and was using a 6mm bolt instead of the stud/nut arrangement.

I would call my old self, Snapper when it cmae to tightening bolts. :-)

Using bolts has been an often reported 'fix' when a stud gives out (oh My!).

But...I'd much prefer replacing the stud. At some point in time that fork body...that hugely expensive fork body...is going to get tired of that bolt getting yanked on all the time, and something bad is going to happen.

I keep telling myself I gotta get a couple for spares. Haven't, yet.

Most studs have different thread pitches one end from the other.

Oh..btw, they ARE threaded in. So I've been told, anyway. Better hope that when one DOES snap that there is enough room to get some pincers on it. It's probably not big enough to drill a hole in for easy out use.

BTW...I have purchased some of these for my spares tub. Came from Ron Ayers. They are spec'd as 6x22. Jason has posted elsewhere that the '22' measurement is derived from the length the stud sticks OUT of the fork.

The stud itself measures considerably longer'n that...about 30mm I think.

Anyway, it IS the correct part number and it IS the correct part for the 'H' model RH fork cap attachment.

when i did usd conversion one of my studs was broke off on axle clamp of 97 forks those are hard to find I had bike shops tell me the same in regards to replacing tubes tried napa auto shops finnally found some at cycle barn in lynwood wa. that is the right part number 172G0622 for 97 forks also
