Taneum 6/30-7/1, lots of pics

Post by strider80 »

If I have time I will write up a little better report and add some captions, for now, here is a pile of pics. Wonderful place to ride. Great views of Rainier. We had dust, heat, rocks, snow and mud, pretty much covered it all. Trials tire worked great. I put a 38pj in my RB carb, helped clean things up a bit at the higher altitudes.

We had a great two days at Taneum this weekend, we figured out some good loops by chatting with people next to us and scoping out the map. We staged out of Taneum Junction, rode about 40 miles each day. Lot of switchbacks, made for tiring riding.

The first day we took a quick jaunt to Fishhook flats via 1377 and 1363, then we went up to Frost Mountain (~6000ft), what a fun climb with my new D803 in the rear of the KDX. My buddy on his overheating RMX had other ideas about that climb though. There is the foundation for an old fire lookout still up there.

Sunday we took 1326 to Windy Pass (~5xxxft) and then went and checked out Mt. Clifty (6400ft), what a view! Kind of cool thing, there is a water tight PVC cylinder at the top with a "guest book" in it to sign, I think it gets posted to some website. We came back on 1377-1367-1363. We will definitely be back to do some more exploring this summer!

Nice pics, looks like a nice place to ride. I'll have to add it to the list of places to go ride someday. :supz:

It is a huge area that interconnects with many campgrounds, I have only scratched the surface in 3 rides.

I didn't realize Jim Croce rode as well as he plays a guitar.
