Gifford Pinchot NF Ride

Post by Flying W »

Calling all brave souls with stout bodies and sturdy bikes.

I like the trails in GPNF and wish to go riding there this summer. The trails I plan to choose are long, sometimes very steep and narrow. One loop I wish to complete is over 40 miles and the ratings of the trails are double black diamond. The elevation is around a mile high. Some of the loop runs above tree line in alpine meadows.

To connect to some of the trails, we have to ride NF roads which means your bike needs to be street legal.

This is not a ride for the kids or the beginner. While it is possible to navigate a beginner's bike through a tough section and thereby get that rider along, the pace of travel comes into play as the day wears on.

This ride should be considered more demanding on a rider than a typical 'day at the track'.

If you are interested, please post your thoughts or questions in this thread and we'll keep the topic going.

I think I can go any of the following dates (only), check your calendar and place your vote:
July 20-22
August 3-5

I can only go one time this year, so pick one.
