Anybody here race either NETRA HS or J-Day Offroad events in New England? I have an '02 KDX 200 and could race in either the Jr class or the C200 class and not sure which series to do. I've ridden a ton in my 3 years riding and am 16. Anybody have any input on racing either series on a KDX? Is one better for a new comer to the racing scene?
Any/all responces appreciated
Thanks,
Andrew

Re: NETRA HS or J-Day Offroad on KDX 200
I've ridden my KDX at both events. Jday is more open and MX like with shorter courses and NETRA's courses are longer and tougher.
JDays are two 30 minute motos where you ride as fast as you can on a 2 to 3 mile fast and wide track. NETRA is hare scramble format; 6+ mile loop through varied and technical terrain; about 4 to 5 laps.
With that said, it depends what you looking for. NETRA will challenge you and make you a better all-around rider. JDAY will have alot more kids your age (15-25) who are more into MX.
The KDX can handle both but JDays might be tough since the course is tailored towards MX bikes. You might also get the feeling the dude behind you is trying to run you over.
Try both. Both series' next event looks awesome. Do the NETRA one July 1 then the Jday after and then decide.
The C200 class will be large and competitive in both series.
Check out nedirtbikes.com for more info on both.

NETRA HS or J-Day Offroad on KDX 200
In NETRA, if you are under 18, you need a parents or guardians permission to race. I am sure JDAY also requires a waiver. NETRA will cost you $40.00 to join the org. plus $40.00 to race plus $10.00 rental fee for the trasnsponder, plus usually $10.00 to park. Your first race will cost you about $100.00. You are supposed to have numbers on your bike after the first race, that is another expence. I think JDAY only charges for parking, race fee, and a one time charge for a tansponder. Some where around $60.00. If money is an issue, I think JDAY is cheaper. I think your bike is better suited to race NETRA hare scrambles. In NETRA you can also race in the sportsmans class. It is a good level to start with, because you start in the last row. Then you don't have the worry of 200 bikes passing you. Yelling and screaming at you to get out of the way. I race a KDX 220 hybrid in NETRA. #4374. Good Luck

Jday requires a membership fee too. The first race works out to be the same. Same cost per smile!
