I'm in . . . so is Rick Godbey and Andy. Brings the total to 8 . . . should be some others from Ohio chiming in.

We'll be missing Kirk and Austin which is a bummer. 'Be cool to see Vince end up coming down but it sounded very unlikely unfortunately.

So the "family" is changing

Three weeks this Thursday! Man, I'm excited!!

In a word: No.
Only had time to get the bike out once since I bought it when the temp was about 30 degrees...
Up till now I've just been reading the manuals, collecting parts and buying tools.
Really have not gotten the opportunity to dial the bike in. I was hoping to get out this weekend to start the jetting process so I could ride it this summer before I send out the head and carb to RB. With a total lack of experience I was planing on following Inda's instructions and see how it goes. I've never cracked it open to see what kind of shape its in. It's basically an untested bike at this point.

Next spring will be a different story!
So take lots of videos! lol

I wouldn't worry about mods at this point. Take the bike out and get used to it as is. Get to know where is lacks and where it shines. Something may need attention over new goodies.

Arrive afternoon of Thursday, May 18th, depart Monday afternoon, May 22nd. It would be great to see another kdxrider - let us know if you can make it all or part of those days.

Jeb, I'm not sure how to tell you this buddy, but I think you lost/gained a couple of days somewhere. The 18th is a tuesday, and the 22nd is saturday. Appreciate the enthusiasm, but clarification is needed.

Should I go back through the thread for info on terrain, riding ability, camping, food, etc?

Incidentally, the KDX is in a rubbermaid in the garage; still trying to sort out the quirks in my fork conversion. Is orange acceptable?

Sorry, I was lookin' at the April calendar . . . we arrive afternoon of Thursday, May 20th, depart Monday afternoon, May 24th.

Your orange is fine, there will be other orange bikes there.

Riding ability will be varied but for the most part it's not really that important. We've almost always rode together anyway, but occasionally some will want to tackle a portion that others don't so we split up and use the trail markers and maps to reconvene somewhere else.

Terrain? Everything you can imagine, all in heavily forested mountains. The trails are marked according to difficulty. Go to trailsheaven.com and read about it . . . you can do searches for the topic. Youtube has some pretty good footages.

If you're confident you're going I'll be happy to give you some ideas on lodging/camping, etc.

10 days!

I checked the forecast on a couple of websites and, at least at this point, we're looking good. The rain that's coming throughout the week and early next week slacks off on the weekend we'll be there with perhaps a little rain on Saturday.

'Never did hear back from kickinrocks or Jupiter2 . . . are you coming?

I really wish I could swing it but can't make it this trip.

'Just made it back this afternoon . . . it was awesome.

The group started out with 8 (Rick, Andy, Dustin, myself, Tom, and the three CT fellas Jim Blais, Kurt, and Craig). Rained for an hour Friday morning then we rode 50+ miles at Rockhouse, everyone had a great time despite the mud/moisture level.

On Saturday it rained at least 4 hours. Jim Horvath and his friend Chris joined us at Bearwallow in the afternoon and we rode from 30 to 50 more miles depending on which group you were in. Between loosing a master link and a greasy, long uphill, some of us didn't roll out of the woods until 10pm or so (long story). Still, another very good day.

Sunday was beautiful. Jim H and Chris ran all the black trails and the singletrack, the rest of us stuck to milder stuff. Rode in a wide variety of terrain stretching from slimy, rock-infested rough trail in the darkness of the forest's canopy to wide open, very fast stuff. Found a glorious waterfall for a quick ice-water shower. Awesome way to wrap up a great time.

Pictures, videos, and associated evidence coming soon.

LOL

I wasn't in much condition after my first ride ( before anyone else got there)
to do much of anything but putt around with an occasional burst of energy
due to rock rash.
I was coming down the trail head, second gear across a small tree in the trail on a 45 degree angle and crashed on the rocks hard.
My arm was bloodied pretty good and had a 3 day charlie horse on my leg
that slowed me down pretty good. My bars were turned right but the wheel was going left. All that was straightened out pretty easy though.

I can report that my Scott's stabilizer works great !
Rock deflection was almost unnoticed and it really worked super.
Great get together with everyone, hopefully more can make it next year.

Oh, and I don't have any pics but hopefully the others post pics soon....
