My son and I might be able to join you folks at Haspin on April 29nd. It looks like it's only 160 miles from Richmond. We've not been there before - new places to ride are always good. The weekend is free . . . but we're trying to sell his CRF230 to one of his friends in order to buy him another ride. (Looking at '06 CRF250X for the kid . . . ) If we actually sell it soon, we'll need to break in the new ride a bit and have him get used to on familiar trails first.

What sort of camping is available there?

Well, we will be at Haspin on the 29th. I havent been there in years, But as i remember, its first come, first serve. Primitive camping, some by or in the woods, and others out in the open. I think you can also camp under shelters. They have showers, consessions, rrooms, etc. Well, i see you changed your post while i was typing. You otta try and come. I havent really rode in about twelve years, and my buddy has never rode. He will be riding my dr. It might be kinda slow paced, but with all of us, it WILL be a BLAST!! Check out there web site! Sorry wife took over net to look for baby stuff. The times I have been there it was primitive camping, the main building has restrooms, a small food counter which has ice. I would assume that camping on Sunday will be no problem. I doubt we could get a shelter as those are usually taken by Thursday. The place is like the wild wild west on Friday and Saturday night. Just as a warning there are VERY few rules that are enforced on the weekend. Night riding by a convoy of 15 people on mostly quads kicking up dust at 11PM, 4X4s climbing "Devils Backbone" at night, sometimes rolling back down, is normal. THere are plenty of places to camp. We usually have camped by the enterance but I have seen people all over the place. Bring your own tripod to cook on, no grills provided, some trash cans that you can tell he just burns the trash in also. I have only been there like 3 times and always go with my brother who will be coming. The place drys out pretty quickly after it rains but the main trail and track resemble concrete if it hasnt rained in a while. there are tons of trails off of the main trail, 2 tracks, free camping, KDXRIDERS.NET taking over, what else can you ask for? :partyman:

Hey tom. I dont remember, but can we have a fire? If so, me and my bud will try to bring some busted up RR wood.

Yes, if you want to eat you need to have a fire. Usually there is a guy with an S-10 that you can buy loads of wood from but I am sure the RR stuff doesn't have the Emerald Ash Bore or what ever they are worried about spreading. Just make ure it doesn't funk the taste of the food up, nothing like creosote tasting dogs.

:hmm: Well, we might not want to eat off of it.....Good for a regular fire though.
