Well, did ya get er figured out? You can buy packs of assorted rubber o-rings at The Home depot, or some place like that. I had to buy some for my pressure washer nozzle. Just an idea. What spark plug do you run Tom, and at what gap? Ive got an NGK b8es in it, but the book calls for a b9es. Maybe a little hotter plug would help control the fouling????

I run an 8 but that is b/c that is what my brother had when I needed a plug. He had a hook up at autozone so he got plugs at "cost" for a while until the guy got fired, go figure. I think he got it figured out. I took my extra carb parts, ones I thought I lost until I looked in the toolbox. He got an o-ring kit from someone at work. He has his son tonight but will work on the bike later tonight so I am just waiting on a call. I am 99% sure we are a go. I think that he had to undo some of my winter carb work, but it ran b-4 I worked on it so I am sure it will run again.

Cool, i hope you can still make it. Your kinda pulling the thing all together. Well, inda set me straight on the plugs. The 8 burns hotter than the nine, so thats what ill try and stick with. I might try to get some jets tommorow.

I read you run 50-1 that seems a little too lean. I run 32-1 but have some spooge issues. I would worry at higher RPMs that the engine is not getting enough oil to lube its self and the cylinder.

Well, thats what the po ran, so i stuck with it. It should seem lean, but she smokes and spooges pretty good. That and the plug fouling leads me to jetting. One of my old seadoo's was 50-1, and had no problems. I dont know.....

I am sure you can get some jets from the dealership. Look to see what you have in your carb or even raise the clip on your needle making the needle longer. That is free just a little elbow grease and a few minutes. I would try 40-1 to be safe. I would rather run a little rich then lean.

I was thinking about switching to that. It sure would be easier to mix. Plus more lubrication! I just wasnt sure about doing it with the already fouling plug issue. If i could re-jet for 40-1, it should fix it. But how? Any idea the sizes in yours? What would raising the needle do?

Raising the clip would make the needle "longer" and it wouldn't come out of the carb "block" as much letting less gas through the jet and less fuel to the motor. I cann't remember what I put in mine I know it was 1 size down from stock.

Well, the book says needle clip 2nd from top. Main jet 165, slow jet 42. I guess i could check mine, which im sure are different b/c the po said he rejetted, and go back to stock. Its got an fmf pipe, so that might change thins a bit. Maybe stock jets, and 40-1 mix?

The two ribs I cracked last Saturday are giving me fits . . . but I'm not yet willing to cancel out. I'm looking forward to riding with some of the folks from this forum and I'm anxious to see Haspin Acres. The pain pills the ER doctor gave me are going fast and I'm now trying to save 'em for sleeping at night.

If you're still in a bit of pain better to take care of yourself - we'll have chances to ride this year, us Kentuckians being relatively close together and all. 'Matter of fact, if you can't make it we'll make it a point to regroup when you're ready - maybe out your way at MPOR. I've heard MPOR is pretty good.

I am ready!! I have all my stuff layed out, I need to go to the store tomorrow before we leave. I cann't wait to meet you guys, 10 at the main building. We will probably be easy to spot. This will be the first real ride of the year. I am not in the best riding shape, a little winter weight I am still working off. I can break out my new helmet and gear. At the end of last year I found an AWSOME deal from MXgiant. A helmet, pants and jersey for $100. I would pay more than that for a helmet at the dealership. This is my first new helmet in like 10 years, it feels so light and comfy.

weather.com // Laurel, IN

Saturday
Intervals of clouds and sunshine. High 69F. Winds WNW at 10 to 20 mph. Precip: 10%

Sunday
Mainly sunny. Highs in the mid 70s and lows in the mid 50s.
Precip: 10%

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

I feel pretty good today . . . I worked out tonight and felt decent. I'm thinking Austin and I are likely to join you all on Sunday. We're running in a hare scramble on May 6th (someone has to bring up the rear of the field, right?!!?) and we need the seat time.

The plan is to meet at the "main building" at Haspin at 10:00 on Sunday, right?! I drive an '06 red Silverado containing one KDX and another flavored machine the same color as the truck (junior's still on his 230 - he's not happy but at 15 that's a relatively normal state - actually, he's a good kid!).

I'll PM my cell phone number to you folks.

That 230 will be just fine. I've got the Yammi version of the 230 so I know about them, trying to sell it at this time . . .

talk about torque! I start it up (pushbutton) every two weeks or so and ride it for a few minutes just to keep it from being totally idle. I'm always suprised by the engine breaking - on downshift, when that clutch comes out my body literally shifts forward. A heck of a hillclimber that bike is . . .

Save the motorcycles, the truck is loaded with our gear, tools, and spare parts bin. My order from Pat's Small Engine is now a couple days overdue (argh!) and it looks like I won't get to try the new needles (ordered both CEL & DEL) on Sunday. Bummer. Oh well . . . there is no such thing as a bad day riding.
