I'm thinking of entering this event. It is held in Bend Oregon. Anyone have any thoughts about it or experiance to pass on? Anyone wants to join, I'll be happy to meet you there.

Marty has ridden it....on a 650XR as I recall. It's in the desert.

Well, I'm sure the course is considerably different now. Back then there was a good deal of open spaces with sand (well, volcanic ash..NOT the same as beach sand) that you had to be doin' 80mph if you wanted to keep on top of it.

April 24 will be close to Timber Mtn. hare scramble time over here. They don't usually run them the same weekend.....

Timber Mountain is April 16 and 17 this year, so you'd be safe.

Doug's ridden it in the past and he thinks it could be fun. Besides, it gets us up there. I'm not working much on-call this year, and will have more play time. So I plan on getting up that way a couple of times.

This could be one, then August for Prospect Peak?

Going to Nevada this Saturday with Doug and a couple of boys from the Pond for some desert riding. I miss it since I moved from San Bernardino in the 70's.

I have the Sawmill Enduro on the 16th, then the Fools Gold Enduro on May 1st.
China Hat fits right in between.

Although last year, the Sawmill was the only race I DNF'ed. It kicked my arse!!

Prospect Peak?

I don't know where that is.

The Prospect OHV system will probably be open in August. Johns Peak will likely be closed.

Again...getting the two of them at the same time is unlikely. Prospect isn't usually completely clear of snow until Mid-July. This year IS a light snowpack year, though.

They're already harping on a likely early fire season..that means Johns Peak may be closed as early as late May/early June.

Anyway, I'll keep 'ya posted on 'things' up this-a-way.

How about Timber Mtn HS? Keep the local MayDay Poker run in mind, too. It's currently scheduled for May 1. If your plans change for FoolsGold, come on up here!

You can keep tabs on local rides HERE!.

Cindy (Marty's seester) has pitted for Marty at China Hat. Her advice for China Hat? 'Eat your Wheaties!'

That volcanic ash stuff is N-A-S-T-Y!

You keep scaring me off these rides, I'm never gonna make one! Anyway, too late, Doug's sent the money and unless I stiff him, I'm not walking away from an entry fee.

So loose the foreskin and grow some fuzz on your kiwis and join us! At least drive over to pit for us and drink some beer. Doug's wife, Lori has some friends up there so she's coming along. If we end up going in two vehicles, I'll swing by. Not sure about Lori wanting to go out the way to meet you though, we've told her stories.

Prospect Peak, John's Peak, Prospect OHV..... I'll learn 'em all eventually.

Scare? All I did was forward a 'Wheaties' advise!

I'm sure it's just a regular S. OR ride.

Heh heh....You've been on at least one of them! ;)

BTW....don't kiwis come with fuzz on 'em already?

I might take you up on the 'C'mon over' part. Just to see what's going on, anyway.

I'm sure the front-end of my bike will still be in a gazillion unuseable pieces by then!!
