KDX200 clicking noise

Post by SCouch »

Purchased a 2001 KDX200 this past weekend, and have a few questions. This is my first 2-stroke and it is taking some getting used to, but I loved riding it. I have done some reading and research, so I don't have any oil questions, but didn't run across these answers anywhere.

The bike makes a clicking noise at idle or lower rpm, but goes away as the rpm is increased. I figured this to be the KIPS valve or reed valves, it wasn't something that really bothered me, and the bike seems to run fine.

What is a good/best service manual?

Thanks!

kips rattle, yes. No worries

Factory service manual is good, cyclepedia's manual that you can get from the link at the top of this page is probably best.
