Hadn't put it on yet because of what was looking like a pending wrestling match. I hadn't thought about heating it though. Have to dig out the propane torch and give it a try.

I believe I got it started with one clamp to hold it in place (maybe in the middle? but not sure)
Seemed like just to start out I used a bigger clamp than it came with

I remember Carvr did not like the idea of banging on the pipe while it is mounted on the motor
Might be something to consider, but unless you have a vise it will be a little more difficult I'd think

Aluminium is pretty soft, add some heat and it gets softer. I wouldn't get the sledg hammer out but a small hammer and some time and I can't see how it would hurt anything. Just think of the impact of hitting a rock hard enough to cave in a pipe.

The guard was a little dirty looking by the time I got it on, with all the burnt rubber on it
