Blubbery vs. Crisp

Post by ihatefalling »

So how do you like your bacon?

Kidding...

If I'm running down a road or other low "load bearing" trail my bike seems to run blubbery.

But if I'm on the gas or climbing a hill (putting "load" on the bike) it runs crisp.

Make sense? Is that the nature of the beast or a symptom of something else? Seems like is has always been that way. I tend to like my bacon chewy...

right.

So you're jetted close on the main, but the needle and/or pilot are rich.

I like my bacon chewy, too.

Chewy, I like the thick cut and take it out of the pan a little before it is done and then it finishes cooking a little more on the plate. Also the next time you have the deep frier out try that, it comes out great.

My bike is exactly the same. Any suggestions for changes to the needle?

Raise the clip up a notch, dropping the needle.

Has to do with the taper of the needle I believe.

Depends if you have been RB'd or not which needles you should try.

I have been RB'd. But it was done before I bought the bikes. I assume it's the RB "prescibed" needle that's in there.

Will the needle # be stamped on the needle I suppose?

Let me suggest the JD Red needle for the KDX. That is what I am running and love it.

I have the same setup as you ihatefalling and I'm in middle tennessee. I just rejetted my carb for the cold weather and went with 152mj, 42pj, and DEK needle in the 4th position. In the summer, I run 150mj, 40pj, and DEK needle in the 3rd position. In both, I'm a bit fat but that's the way I like it. I have an rb'd carb, vf3, airbox top removed, and FMF rev pipe with stock silencer.
