Thanks, Inda. I am running 12/47, but I am going to move away from the 12t CS sprocket and go to a 13/51.

i run a 12 front, stock rear........geared just right. i can ride tech. stuff in 1st, and still climb hills in 2nd and 3rd.........i dont think i would go smaller on the front than a 12......im sure the chain will rub the case.
Similar reasons are why people do to the back (+3 = ~1 front) when re-gearing. The 13T is less prone to wearing itself out, and the chain too. On the bright side it's a piece o cake to put on and/or switch back and forth.

Rear +3 ~ -1 front <------ that's good to know.

Do you think I could squeeze a 52 with the stock chain guide?

If not, does anyone have any input on a aftermarket chain guide that would support a 52t rear?

I don't think you'd want to, honestly. 12/50 is going to be so low already. If you need more bottom end than that from a KDX, something must be wrong with the KDX????

Besides, no, I do not think it would fit without trimming the chain guide.
