Klotz R-50

Post by ldspowersports »

I wrote an article in my blog that is generally about synthetic pre-mix and the fact that most of them are great no matter what you use nowadays. I use R-50 in my KDX and RM250. I have for years with no issues. Check it out...

For years I have tried to only use Maxima 927 or Klotz, just for the smell. I figure that I do not get to ride as often as I would like to, so I want to make it as enjoyable as I can when I do!

Trust me it is not enjoyable following someone burning that crap

Funny you should mention that - I was riding with a slower rider on a long ride a few weeks ago. The guy was a regional 250cc road race champion. I figured that he would be used to the castor smell, but he mentioned it pretty much the same way you did - that, sure, it smells nice, but to follow someone burning it for hours on end was a bit much! LOL!

R-50 contains no castor, but the dye/additives in it smells.

Yep, I know what you mean when riding behind someone. My friend runs Yamalube and 105 octane in his YZ250. It smells nice for about 5 minutes, then I feel the urge to pass him because I start getting high on the fumes. Regardless, any sythetic pre-mix will protect your top-end like no other....

Now I am going to check out Amsoil Dominator because I am a distributor of it. I will post a review soon on that one!

The interceptor is the better not-flogging-your-bike-all-the-time oil depending on your typical riding conditions. Dominator is the true heads-up to R-50. THey all seem clean as a whistle though.

Yep, the Amsoil is good stuff too. I know most of the people that I ride with use Dominator regardless especially in their sleds!
