Loud klunk

Post by Dirtscooter »

I am a new KDX owner and first time two stroke rider.

I was up north with some friends riding some trails and when I shifted from first to second I heard a loud klunk and the back wheel locked up. Now the kick starter won't go all the way down, it stops when perpendicular with the ground. Anyone out there have any ideas before I dive in to it?

None.
It doesn't sound good though, does it?

I think I'd start with on the clutch cover side and try to determine if the transmission is jammed or the motor is jammed. It sounds like the transmission. Maybe you'll get lucky.

Sorry, but there is no way to get lucky at this point. But like KarlP said start with the easy side first. Dose it kick all the way with the clutch in? It could be any thing. Good luck. For what it's worth I just tore mine down all the way and it wasn't that bad to do. so far I have about $150 in bearings for every thing. I didn't have to get in to gears tho.

The good thing is, it's the end of the year around here for trail riding, we like to let the hunters have their time in the woods. And I have a DRZ 400 for back-up.

Thanks for your insight.
