Raising up bike..

Hey guys,
Not KDX related, but DB related...
My sister just got a RM 100. She is a bit too tall for it. (shes 5'6-7"). we are thinking of a few ways to make the bike better fit her. First we are getting handle bar raisers. next we need to figure out how to increase the distance between the foot pegs and her seat... Her legs are really long so this is the biggest problem. I say a Tall seat is what is best, but Dad dont see it that way. Next option is to lower foot pegs.. I say we make some kind of adapter that will mount to where the pegs would, drop down 2" and have a mount for the foot peg. Dad says we weld a pipe along the bottom of the frame and mount pegs there... Any thoughts?

You do not want to lower the pegs... bad idea. She will be hanging up all the time causing injury. Tall seat foam is the best option.

My thoughts exactly...

If you lower the pegs too much you'll get into weird control issues - brake lever and shifter probably won't be in ideal locations.

I'd go with bar risers and taller seat foam for now. If she is new to riding I wouldn't worry about it too much anyway. I can ride the heck out of the wifes KX100 and I'm 5' 11"

Go to an RM125?

Seriously, like everyone else said, taller seat and bar risers are your only options short (no pun intended!) of getting a taller bike.

we had one for her(Hybrid), but she dont like the power.. She has no idea how to find where power is and use it. She is more of a ride it in a straight line pinned... she not a good rider and thinks race bikes are the only fun bikes.. even though i can beat her on my girlfriends crf230... 125 way to much power for her in woods, and she stalls it out.. Stalled out in-between a double on KX125.. I had to run across track to stop kids from jumping on her...

In my experience a 125 is about useless in the woods, but on the track a 125 is going to land better that a KDX. What type of riding is she going to be doing most?
Have you ever ridden a CRF150R? VERY angry little bike. A girl i ride with has a little wheeled version and I have seen it pull the front wheel up with a 300# guy on it.

My old Z50 would wheelie on demand... that's really not saying much....

How much did you weigh? And yes anything will wheelie but have YOU rode a CRF150R? There are great bikes for smaller people with a "little man" complex. Just offering a suggestion.

That's the high-rpm racing 4T version of an 85cc 2T, right? No thanks.

She only wants a smoker... No 4-jokers.. 150 not gonna happen. She has a 100 and that's what she staying with.. She rides mostly in a straight line at house, but we want her to ride in woods with us.

It will wind up but it seems to have pretty good bottom end for a little bike. The engine is basically a scaled down 450.

Depending on the year, the RM is the essentially the same as the KX 100

Pretty good bike.

If you want to make it a little more woods friendly I would send the head and carb off to RBD and have him do his stuff. You will probably have to do the solder squish test to send with the head. Ask him if you want

I did ours and it makes the bike have two modes: It will chug all day in the bottom 1/2 of the throttle or whip up nicely when you want it to. I did not do a FWW, it works fine without.

Have fun!

Neighbor had a crf150 before they traded up to the 230. I wasn't impressed with either bike. The kid that rode them is on a 1996 KDX now :). Like everyone else said, a tall seat is the way to go. Lowering the pegs is asking for an injury.

We are working on bar raisers, but the cables are too short. I wonder if kx125 clutch cable and brake hose will work
