Fuel & oil Ratios for diiferent Two strokes you have

Post by gtoron »

This is not a KDX question but was wondering everyones thoughts.

I have four different types of lawn/garden tools that uses 32:1, 40:1 & 50:1
pre mix ratios. Echo weed wacker & Chainsaw,Lawnboy mower, Craftsman Blower.

Was wondering if I could use one pre-mix across the board for all these different tools as it would be a lot easier that mixing for each machine.

I currently run Mobile 2stroke synth oil or Amsoil Interceptor.

I have an Echo weed trimmer, a chainsaw, and three 2 stroke motorcycles. I use the same gas in all of them: AV gas + Klotz oil @ 32:1.

32:1 in all my 2 stroke engines, doesn't matter what they are in.

My saw and trimmer run much better on the motorcycle mix than they did on the cheap crap.

I was visiting my Dad and he had run out of his cheap crap so we ran some of my matorcycle mix in his saw. Much better...

Your smaller bore, higher revving engines will require more oil than your larger bore machines. 32:1 should suit all of them. Chain saws are notorious for siezing with fuel/oil mixtures leaner than that.

I've been running Golden Spectro @ 50:1 for everything two stroke since the early 70's with zero problems.

Been using Amsoil Dominator @ 40:1 for a few years now, seems to work well for me.

I run 44:1 in the KDX. The Echo blower and Echo weedeater call for 64:1. The Lawnboy lawnmower is 32:1.

I have noticed many people run less oil (the KDX spec is 32:1, but many run 50:1). How do you know how low you can go? I would like to just make 50:1 and run that in the Echo stuff and the KDX and just keep the lawnboy on 32:1 cheap lawnboy oil (it has been running great for 10 years on that and it is cheap).

When these things came out... there was no high quality synthetic oil. Now that it is available... the oil manufacturers started out calling for 100:1

People weren't comfortable with that... so they started suggesting 50:1 ... people could almost buy that ratio.

Lawnboy and other 2 stroke lawn motor manufacturers don't think that you are going to run high quality synthetic so that's why they suggest such heavy oil concentrations.
