What kind of grease?

Post by bmiller »

Does anyone know what kind of grease should be used for steering stem bearings and swingarm bearings?

The stock grease used in the stem was super thick and tacky while the swingarm seemed more like white lith grease.

Any ideas?

I use the Bel-Ray grease too. I buy it at the local Kawasaki shop.

Get it (like about everything else motorcycle related) at the local parts/service shop up the road from my house.

I picked up the synthetic wheel bearing grease after I ran out of the Bel-Ray stuff. I have found that it holds up better than the Bel-Ray stuff. I am not saying it is better... it is just thicker and stays put... it doesn't run when if gets warm.

One plus is that it doesn't draw water either.... which is very cool on bearings!

I run the dark blue, marine grease from Mystic. Works great, doesn't run and and is cheap. That Bel-Ray stuff is for 220's.

I'm considering this:

http://docs.mystiklubes.com/msds_pi/M20086.pdf as suggested by skythrasher.

Skythrasher, can you confirm this is the stuff you're talking about?
