Post by KDX4ID »

No wonder I can't get the darn thing jetted correctly.

Is it possible to replace this seal with out splitting the cases?

It doesn't look like it to me but.....

Anytime the stator side leaks, you risk is also sucking in air and leaning out the engine to a dangerous level. IMHO

the stator is seal by a gasket so normally it don't suck air or dust...

I am sorry but I have to call BS on that one!
The stator cavity is not completely sealed off from atmosphere on most engines. Ever see a two stroke scream into the high RPM's due to a bad left side crank seal? I have.

Yep, I seen it too. It WILL suck air through that seal.

Most engines have a drain hole in the cases or a spot on the bottom of the cover that allows for moisture to drain out. This does allow for air and dirt to be sucked in through a bad crank seal, this also causes main bearing failures too.
