Cycle News RIP

Post by Duke »

Long considered the preeminent M/C medium for prompt race results and honest, fairly unbiased testing, Cycle News is gone. The electrical media killed it as the weekly periodicals ability to provide results in days was no match for hours or minutes as provided on the internet. I have to say, that I aided and abetted in the papers death as I quit my subscription a few years ago, buying a few copies a year, instead of subscribing for my weekly fix. I can still recall when they had Cycle News east and west. While I understand the dynamics leading its fall ( an impending doom that many other long standing monthly's will soon face) I cant feel but a little sad as it served as a representation of my youth and long standing passion for the sport of dirt biking

They're main mis-calculation was in having TOO GOOD of a web site. Most bike (dirt or street) magazine's web sites are about useless. So you pretty much HAVE to buy the magazine, or make due with a few hints at what is actually in the printed version.
