I'm living in Thailand and just bought a 98KDX220. This bike was made in Japan, although later KDXs were made in Thailand.
Even though they were made here, parts can still be hard to come by, however the engines are very similar to the SuperKIPS/KR150s that were made here for close to 20 years and are common throughout Southeast Asia.
I've just got the clutch rebuilt with KR parts, I haven't got the bill yet, but it will be very cheap. You can get a carb bored for less than $20. There are plenty of good 2T mechanics over here who can do race tuning. I also have a CRM250Ar and was able to get a custom made expansion chamber and locally made silencer for around $100.
Anyone here in Southeast Asia?
