RB mods vs. Fredette mods for 220

Post by wilkesw »

Can anyone point me to a discussion regarding a comparison of the RB mods and the Fredette mods (i.e., porting, milling, carb work) for the 220? Thanks.

I have a combination of both. Fredette ported my cylinder and rb did my carb head and crank. While I can't speak for the difference between the two because I haven't ridden bikes with each back to back, I will say that both of those guys are very professional and know their stuff.

Fredette is the KDX king, but I wouldn't let him grind on my cyl. He's no engine builder by trade. Rb does a nice head, but if your going to go all out on your cyl, let that builder do the head as well. Eric Gorr has been reputed to do some nice work on 220's to cleanup the 'mushy' factory port timing. He's one of the best reputed MX engine builders in the business.
