KIPS not working?

Post by jubby »

Hi Guys how well would the bike run if the kips system was not working?
I recently removed the right side engine cover to replace the gear change shaft on my 220. When I removed the cover I noticed the advancer arm was broken off and I found it wedged in behind the kickstart mechanism.
I am assuming it has been like this since I bought the bike as I have not noticed any difference in power or power delivery since I have had the bike, the same goes for the noise. Having no KDX experience before I bought the bike I wouldn't know if it had the infamous KIPS rattle or not. I have ordered parts to fix. Is there anything else that I should check if this system has not been working and what sort of difference in power or power delivery will I notice when repaired.
Thanks Craig

You will surely notice more mid-top end power.

would it not depend on where the kips valve was positioned when the arm broke? If it was stuck close, then you had all low-end and no top. But if it broke in the open position, you'll notice more bottom to mid and the top will be the same.
