Dose this ever happen to you?

Post by rbates9 »

Last weekend I was riding on the club trails that I normally ride on but for some reason the kid in me came out and I was trying some hills that I probably shouldn't have. But any way more than once, probably six or seven times I would run out of power and stall, grabbing the clutch a second to late, the bike with out a dought stalled, and then it would just start right back up on its own. There was two other people with me that said that it stalled also. I don't know what was going on but every thing seemed to be fine as far as running and power goes.

LOL. I do not know what would cause this anomoly, but if you do find out what makes your bike do this, please let us know, as there are several of us on this board that would like this feature (auto-restart?) on our bikes.

I know it sounds stupid but it happened a few times. I'm not talking about seconds between stalling and starting, but like when you lug it to the point it quits and rocks back. If I grabbed the clutch quick enough it would come back to life. :?

its diesaling? in other words, you have just enough of unburned fuel, and just enough engine rotation to to spark that fuel and fire back up............ahhhhhhhhhh...............another way to explain this,........ hold the kill switch dowm untill it cuts off, or you think its off, and let go of it, and the bike will start back running.

That is what I was considering it to be also, But I would love for it to happen more often! It was almost like I was bump starting it going backwards, but it started turning the right way. :partyman:

i had a bike start backward once!!!!! it wasnt funny either{to my buddies maybe} ...... luckily i was in the shop, and was going to ride the clutch a little, and it just creeped backwards... cut it off, and started it again, and it ran right........... this happend on a really low compression motor tho, and it misfired, and kicked back just at the compression stroke, and fired.

There was a KTM in the late 90's that had a problem that it would stop in just the right spot that when you kicked it over it would start up running backwards, I remember hearing about it from a guy that worked for a dealer. I cant remember what year or model, but in the dead start races they said it could be a bit of an issue. Nothing like taking off at full throttle in reverse at a starting gate.
