Exhaust valve rods in backwards ??

Finished the rebuild but cannot get it to start!! Got a good spark and have gone through the carb jets again but all seems fine. Not starting!!!

The only thing I can think of is I put the exhaust valve rods in backwards and that is preventing it from starting???

I followed the Cyclepedia guide for installation lining up the lines in the middle of the rods with the punch marks on main shaft and the exhaust valve was fully inserted into head.

However, looking at a parts schematic they seem to have it backwards from cyclepedia. Who is right???

That looks right....

Getting that in backwards should not stop it from starting however....

HOw do you line it up???? When yoou drop subvalve in you cant see exhaust valve to line it up??

I put it in wrong then....I lined it up on (13107) the main not the sub.

You look in the exhaust port to get lined up....

It's the hole that your exhaust pipe plugs into....

Air, fuel or fire.... it's one of them or a combo of two or all of them.

Hate to be a pain in butt...But do not want to disassemble if do not have to..

I lined up the exhaust rods (lines in middle of shaft) on the main 13107 not sub 12005A. Which is wrong........ CORRECT?????

Both HAVE TO be indexed correctly or it will not function as designed. When closed... the subvalves have to be closed... when engaged fully... the subvalves have to be fully open.
