KTM 200 EXC????
Ok so i got a guy wanting to trade me his 04 KTM 200 its piped and has a rekluse auto clutch on it. I dont know anything about an auto clutch can someone fill me in on how they work. And why the guy would be kinda pushing this bike on me a little. Is there something special about these bikes maybe i should know about before i go look at it?

Which 200, the SX, XC or XCW?
The six speed tranny works quite well in the XCW but the XC was not so popular thus the reason KTM dropped it from the line-up. The SX is the MX bike and has rather stiff suspension and a smaller fuel tank.
The 04 is an older frame design and not nearly as desirable as the late model bikes (08 - present), they just didn't turn as well.
Edit - I guess in '04 they probably still called them MXC & EXC instead of XC and XCW respectively. Anyway in '03 that was the case and I am not sure which year they changed the naming of the bikes.

what do you have done to your kdx? if you like trail riding, lugging the bike, or just all out riding in general, then stick with the kdx...... but the ktm will be faster and better on track conditions, and seem to have more power, but up in the rpms more................. just ride the ktm and see if you like it.

I love my buddies 200 EXC, it's like a 125 on steroids, with low end that nearly matches the KDX. The main problem with them is the twitchy suspension and the 2x4 of a seat. I am comfortable riding my kdx for 6 hours or more, but the EXC wears me down much faster.
Auto clutches are great. No more stalling. If the bikes RPM's drop to far, clutch disengages and gets the revs back up to help you stay in the power. Nearly eliminates the clutch work.

Sounds boring to me.... Dirtbikes have clutches, with out one it's not the same. That's why I told the guy to take it off of my ktm250 when I got itjuliend wrote: Auto clutches are great. +1 That is why I left the four strokes and came back to two strokes, more exciting, and the necessity of clutch work keeps you sharp. IMOKDX220rser wrote:Sounds boring to me....
