What is the correct size tubing for the fuel line hose?

I have 1/4" hose on my fuel line but it keeps leaking at the petcock end. Do you guys use metal clips or zip ties to hold them on? The zip ties never work for me - should I find a suitable clip?

I think it is NOT 1/4"
The petcock barb is smaller than the carb barb. I went to the autoparts store and found some metric line that was O.K. for both. 6 mm, maybe?
They had the spring clips for it.

I just use 1/4" rubber fuel line ... never a problem.
