97 KDX220 FMF Pipe

Post by DanMan06 »

Hey All, I recently purchased a 97 KDX220. It has a FMF Pipe.On the tab it has K-30 KDX 040895. When I bought it I noticed it was blowing smoke out of the jug where the pipe seats, and there was a good amount of spooge built up. So anyhow, pulled the pipe cleaned the jug and all of the pipe. There was NO copper washer in the jug and the O - rings were flat as pancakes.

So got new pipe mounts, o-rings and washer. Springs still feel strong. All that to ask my question. Got my parts and have the pipe installed. However, When I look at the way the pipe is seating, it doesn't look right. Below I have some pics. To add to this. Once I remounted the pipe. I get NO exhaust out of the jug, or any oil. I don't feel any air(exhaust) passing the seals either.

So I'm wondering if this is ok??

I'm looking for feed back. Have to get this right, b/c $$ is an issue :) I know it says it's a KDX pipe, but since I bought it used and it looks mounted odd to me I'm wondering if it's a pipe for my model..

Even with the O rings and copper washer, I always also use some copper RTV exhaust sealant for good measure. Not a single leak for me.
