has anyone ever used 2 master links in a chain?? do you think it would work, as far as strenth wise? i needed to lenghten my chain, so i cut a piece from another chain, and used 2 master links to put it together. any opinions?? :hmm:

As a temp fix it's fine. I wouldn't think of it as a permanant fix though... but I am sure there are lots of people running this way....

+ 1 on the temp fix, and I'd ride with more spare links and other ppl just in case it breaks 20 miles away from the truck...

Master links are no weaker than any other link in the chain. The side plates and pins that are bearing the load are the same. What is different is the method used to hold these pieces together. The clip does not inherently make the link weaker, however wear on the clip can cause it to come off, and the peices come apart. This is why some folks rivet their chains together. Having two master links would not really make your chain weaker. It would however give you another clip to wear and come apart.

I have done this with no problems, but its one of those "keep looking over your shoulder" type things.
