Winter time rebuild

Post by Kyle651 »

Hey guys, I got some questions that are kinda long term, I just don't want to worry about it all come winter.

After the riding season (I'm from minnesota, so that's october, haha) I am planning on freshening up my bike, just for shits-n-giggles.

I am planning on the following :
Fresh piston & Cylinder hone/re-plate if it needs it
Clean KIPS - I don't know what this entails as I have only read about it briefly.
Clean powervalve.
Check all bearings (They seem to be fine, bike is a low hour 2001)
And RB Head & Carb mod.

I am wondering if there is anything else to add to my winter to do list.

And yeah yeah yeah, it is June, but I like to be ontop of these things, plus I might use my bike for some ice racing :)

check crank bearings and seals. If you're getting that into it, you want to go ahead and replace anything that might need replacing.

cleaning kips and cleaning powervalve are one in the same. KIPS is kawi's proprietary name for their powervalve system.

Is this a 200 or a 220? If it's a 220, make sure you go with a forged piston.

Change the fork oil and respring for your weight. The rear shock probably needs rebuilding too.

Linkage bearings, including swingarm.

If you have not been into them they will definately need it by winter.
