e series pegs....

Post by Julien D »

Hmm. I just found out by accident that after just a couple whacks with a hammer to narrow the mount, 93 yz250 pegs fit perfectly on the E series KDX. Dunno if this info will help anyone else. Free pegs for me though, much wider than the stock pegs. I like it!

Interesting. It looks from the pic to sit higher than the stock peg. Is that in fact the case? If so, how much?

Yeah, about 1/2". Just fine for me, being 5'6". It might be enough to bother a tall fella, but I doubt it.

Bummer. I already have a hard enough time finding my rear brake with the stock pegs. I would think another 1/2" would drive me nuts trying to find it, however, I still might give them a shot.

Edit: After looking around a bit, the pegs you have appear to sit a lot higher than stock YZ pegs. I definately will try a set and see what I think of them. BTW, here is a link to some pegs that look like the IMS pegs but at a reasonable price: http://www.d2moto.com/p-4968-90-05-yama ... -pegs.aspx

Those look sweet, and lower than mine. For that price I will have to try a set. They LOOK stronger than these pegs, anyway.

The ones I have are definitely stock for a 93 yz250. From what I can find, the same pegs are used on yz250 from 92 - 96.

You might have to drill a hole for the spring on the RH side, the LH had the hole in the right place.

If they're in that list, they should fit.

Wow, somehow I missed this. Sorry!

No, I didn't try them and unfortunately I cannot now as someone stole the TTR this past Wednesday.

Looking at doing this finally with my build and had a question. Juliend, did you use the YZ spring or the stock KDX spring with the YZ pegs?

Just got my set of Ebay special pegs for my build. Thought I would post up in this thread about them since this is where we originally discussed these pegs.

The pegs are listed for "90-05 Yamaha YZ 80 125 250 500 WR 200 500 Honda XR 350 500". The mounting hole is an exact match to the stock E series peg pin. Unfortunately, they are pretty wide at the mounting point so a little bit of grinding was in order. There is still plenty of thickness so I feel OK with thinning it a bit. The only thing special you have to do with the springs is to swap them from left-to-right and right-to-left. Absolutely no modifications are needed for the stock springs..

I ground the side of the mount that faces towards the ground.

Image

I also had to grind the inner lower mount (red arrow) to get the peg height just right. I spent about 30-35 minutes on one peg using a Dremel. I took my time as I didn't want to remove too much material.

Image

So, a little bit of time, a Dremel, and some $18 Ebay pegs, and I got a peg that is a lot more comfortable to stand on, grips better than stock, and didn't hurt my wallet. If they hold up then these are a bargain IMO.

I bought a set of pegs from d2moto made for the kdx. why are you buying pegs for another make/model instead and having to modify them to fit? what am I missing here?

Nobody makes aftermarket pegs for an E series KDX unless you want to fork over $75+. The pegs you linked will fit 95 - 2006, not 91 - 03.

Nice work SS. Mine were a touch wide too. I narrowed the mount with a 2lb hammer.

Wow. People suck (No, Not all of them!). My father-in-law always told the boys when they were growing up, "If you're gonna steal something, at least make it worth the arrest." What a philosophy.

These wouldn't bend at all so I resorted to grinding on them. They work smooth and I love how the feel on the feet.

I just put a set of these pegs on my 93 and had to grind/file the sides to make them fit then touched up the bare metal with paint.
These pegs are defiinitly better than stock.
