Trailer vs Truck Box Load

Post by Varmint »

Leaving for H&M tomorrow morning and was wondering what a safer configuration for a quad and two bikes.

1. Two bikes in the truck and quad in the trailer
2. Quad on the truck and two bikes in the trailer

In 1 all our gear would be spread out between the truck and trailer.
In 2 most of the gear would be in the trailer.

I guess what I'm asking is... Is it better to have the heavier load in the truck box or the trailer?

Thanks!

I'd put the expensive stuff in the truck bed and the cheap (i.e the quad ) on the trailer...

Since I could stand to lose a quad I would put it in the trailer.

Not to pile on, and it's been said before... The toughest part about riding a quad is telling your mom and dad you're gay.

Weight over the axle is ALWAYS better than weight behind the axle. Put the max payload in the truck and tow a light trailer for safety reasons.

Skipro is right... IF your truck suspension is cool with that... if you are driving a Honda Ridgeline (I dont know...some quad riders likely have them AND actually call them trucks...like they call their quads "bikes"....) then you would be better off putting the most weight over the trailer axle...

I just spent my first weekend at a offroad campground, and I gotta say, I now understand the term "quadtard". What a zoo.

Glad to hear is was your bro we were bashing. All in good fun, eh?
