I know its not a KDX question however, does anyone have any tips to removing the front sprocket retaining nut on a 2007 kLX300r?
I tapped the retaining washer flat all around the nut, and I am still unable to break the torque on the nut with a 12" breaker bar. Plus I'm having trouble holding backup using the chain as the holder? I haven't applied heat (no torch) yet but just don't understand why its so hard to get off. Its not left handed treads by any chance?
Thanks

Most of the time they use red loctite
You will probably need to heat it with a torch first
Take a pipe and stick it through the wheel to hold it while you are torquing it on and off
and remember to use the loctite on assembly
My Vstrom takes over 100 ftlbs

It'll be a right hand thread. Bang that sucker off of there with an impact.
People go through this with flywheel nuts, put rope in the cylinder, buy piston lockup things that go in the sparkplug hole, flywheel holders, etc.. Hit it with a good impact, and off it comes, no problem.
