gasket sealer

any one use any sort of sealer on the various engine gaskets or head gasket when rebuilding the engine?

I sprayed the head gasket with copper kote, I put RTV on the intake and cooling system gaskets.

I try not to if I don't have to. Would rather avoid the mess and let the gaskets do the job they were made to do. Sometimes it's unavoidable though.
