LH Power Valve

Took the top end off of my new to me 1994 KDX200, sent the head and carb in to be RB'd, when I went to put it all back together I noticed the LH valved was stripped and the shaft was broken. In my research it appears like this is not unusual on this side.

My questiones are where is the best place to get this part cost wise? I have put the cylindar back on should I take it off to install the kips, is it easier? and should I use any specific lube or nothing when I install these parts to help with longevity, I'm assuming engine assembly lube for journals, and gears?

I know what the manuel says, want some specific feedback from folks who have done this with success and longevity...

I have not found any help from different lubes. I have replaced the sub valves in my 89 three times now. Last time, I noticed that the set screw which holds the carrier in on the RH side of the jug is worthless. You can cock that little carrier to the side by hand. When it does get cocked to the side, the main rod gets hung up. I think this helps to strip them out. I made an aluminum plate that would hold that carrier in more securely. So far, so good. I haven't broken a valve since then.

Try servicehonda for your valves. They aren't cheap though....

You can get them through bikebandit and babbittsonline, too. I had broken left and right side sub vavles in my 1990. I wanted to replace everything in the KIPS because after years of the toothed shaft grinding over stripped gears, it was pretty worn. However, I had to buy a good used one, as well as a main valve because they weren't available any more.

try to apply abit of moly grease on the gears before installing them, it might help to ease installation and last abit longer. mine did.

You have any pics of your carrier plate mod? I thought I remember you posting one before but can't remember.
